As a non-profit art school running since 1976, Dubai International Art Centre's kids drawing and painting class has been refined across nearly five decades of continuous operation — pencil drawing, watercolour, and acrylic painting in a nurturing studio setting, with all materials provided by the centre itself. It's consistently DIAC's most popular kids course, reflecting both its longevity and the depth of experience built into how young children are actually taught to draw and paint. Ages 4 to 8; sessions run Saturday, Sunday mornings, and Tuesday, with a free trial available.
This session runs 60 minutes, for ages 4–8. Classes cover a range of media: drawing, painting, clay, mixed media, and increasingly digital art. Toddler classes (ages 2–5) focus on sensory exploration — the process matters more than the finished product. Older children work with structured techniques while developing their personal creative style. Many studios hold regular exhibitions of student work, which builds pride and motivation. Dubai International Art Centre offers a free trial session before you commit.
Parent tip
Resist the urge to judge your child's art by how realistic it looks. In quality art education, experimentation and creative risk-taking are more valuable than technical precision at young ages. Ask them about their work rather than telling them what it looks like.
