Structured Taekwondo for children progressing through the full coloured-belt system toward black belt, covering poomsae (formal patterns), sparring, and breaking techniques with termly gradings marking genuine progress. Phoenix's purpose-built Al Quoz dojang gives proper mat space and equipment rather than a shared multi-purpose room, and instruction follows World Taekwondo Federation standards throughout. Ages 7 to 11; sessions run Monday, Wednesday afternoons, and Saturday mornings, with a free trial available.
This session runs 60 minutes, for ages 7–11. Classes follow a structured format: a formal bow-in, warm-up and conditioning, technique drills, and practice with partners. Children are never paired with adults. The belt or grading system provides clear milestones — most academies hold gradings every 3–4 months. Uniforms (gi or dobok) are usually required and can be purchased through the academy. Phoenix Black Belt Academy offers a free trial session before you commit.
Parent tip
Quality martial arts instruction emphasises restraint and respect, not aggression. If a class feels intimidating or overly competitive for beginners, it's the wrong academy. The best instructors create an environment where children genuinely want to return.
