As Dubai's leading Taekwondo academy, Phoenix runs its youngest group in a purpose-built dojang in Al Quoz — basic kicks, blocks, and the values of respect and discipline introduced through imaginative games rather than formal drilling, since character development matters as much as technique at this age. The academy follows World Taekwondo Federation standards even at entry level, meaning the foundational movements taught here carry directly into the belt system as children progress. Ages 4 to 6; sessions run Monday, Wednesday afternoons, and Saturday mornings, with a free trial available.
This session runs 45 minutes, for ages 4–6. Classes follow a structured format: a formal bow-in, warm-up and conditioning, technique drills, and practice with partners. Children are never paired with adults. The belt or grading system provides clear milestones — most academies hold gradings every 3–4 months. Uniforms (gi or dobok) are usually required and can be purchased through the academy. Phoenix Black Belt Academy offers a free trial session before you commit.
Parent tip
Quality martial arts instruction emphasises restraint and respect, not aggression. If a class feels intimidating or overly competitive for beginners, it's the wrong academy. The best instructors create an environment where children genuinely want to return.
