Advanced drama training for ages 9–12 at The Courtyard Playhouse, Dubai's only KHDA-licensed improvisation theatre and training centre, based in Al Quoz's arts district since 2013. Covers staging, scene study, and vocal and physical work, with short play performances each term exploring comedy, drama, and different theatrical genres. Sunday and Monday classes are part of the Young Theatre Academy, which runs continuously for students aged 4–18.
This session runs 90 minutes, for ages 9–12. Classes cover a range of media: drawing, painting, clay, mixed media, and increasingly digital art. Toddler classes (ages 2–5) focus on sensory exploration — the process matters more than the finished product. Older children work with structured techniques while developing their personal creative style. Many studios hold regular exhibitions of student work, which builds pride and motivation. The Courtyard Playhouse offers a free trial session before you commit.
Parent tip
Resist the urge to judge your child's art by how realistic it looks. In quality art education, experimentation and creative risk-taking are more valuable than technical precision at young ages. Ask them about their work rather than telling them what it looks like.
