Mixed martial arts fundamentals combining striking, clinch work, and grappling in one class, aimed at teens and adults building total-body fitness and practical self-defence capability rather than training for competition specifically. No prior martial arts experience is expected or needed to start — the format is designed to build from genuine basics regardless of age or fitness level walking in. Runs at Al Joud Centre, Sheikh Zayed Road; a free trial is available.
This session runs 60 minutes, for ages 14+. Classes follow a structured format: a formal bow-in, warm-up and conditioning, technique drills, and practice with partners. Children are never paired with adults. The belt or grading system provides clear milestones — most academies hold gradings every 3–4 months. Uniforms (gi or dobok) are usually required and can be purchased through the academy. Warrior Academy offers a free trial session before you commit.
Parent tip
Quality martial arts instruction emphasises restraint and respect, not aggression. If a class feels intimidating or overly competitive for beginners, it's the wrong academy. The best instructors create an environment where children genuinely want to return.
